Genesis 28:10-22
(Props: a stone turned upright , that has oil poured on it,A tape recording of 28:13-15 is required )
I had fled from my brother Esau, he was none to pleased that I had robbed him of his blessing from our father Isaac. Having left Beersheba I was on my way to Haran, when I grew tired and lay down. It was then that I found this rock. I used it as a head rest and that night I dreamed like never before. I dreamed that a staircase reached from earth to heaven, and I saw the angels of God going up and down upon it.
At the top of the stairs stood the Lord.
(Play tape of "I am Jehovah
until I have finished giving you all I am promising." )
I awoke in terror in the revelation that God lives here! This is the entrance to heaven! My headrest here, this stone, I set it upright as a memorial pillar and poured olive oil over it and named the place Bethel, for this is the house of God. It was then that I vowed Oh God protect me and provide for me and bring me back safely to my father, and this pillar shall become a place of worship and I will give you back a tenth of everything you give me.
