Scene opens with Marion and Andrew sitting in their favorite chairs. Andrew reading the paper. Marion glancing at a Church Directory.
Marion: Andrew
Andrew: Yes Dear
Marion: Andrew, I was thinking we should start a small Group
Andrew: That's nice dear
Marion: Andrew
Andrew: Yes Dear
Marion: Are you listening to me?
Andrew: Yes Dear, you want to join a small Group.
Marion: Andrew, I said I was thinking we should start a small Group. Maybe we could
invite the Reynolds over to join.
Andrew: Sure lets form a small group.
(At this point Brody and Justine start to walk up onto the stage. When they reach the top Marion says her next line.)
Marion: Andrew I wasn't thinking that kind of small group. You should
invite Doug and Jan to join not Brody and Justine.
Andrew: I should invite them , this is your idea.
Marion: OK , I'll call them.
(Doug and Jan start to make their way to the front)
Andrew: Four people then , That's definitely a small group.
Marion: (opens the door to let Doug and Jan in, then looks around
objectively) Too small.
Andrew: What about Dave and Barb?
Marion: OK, you call them. You thought of them.
Andrew: All right. So what is this small group going to do? (Dave and
Barb start to walk up to the stage.)
Doug: I thought we could maybe study the original Greek translation of the
Book of Numbers. (Dave and Barb do a quick about face and hurry
back to their seats.)
Andrew: Oh great now we're back to a small group again.
Jan: Maybe we should give a little more thought to what we are trying to do.
Marion: We need to enjoy a time of fellowship . What if we start with
desert. (Jenny gets up on her own and starts forward)
Jan: That's a great idea. We should certainly have a time of prayer.
Jenny: And then desert.
Marion : No we were going to start with desert.
Andrew: You know we could have a study time in between desert and
closing in prayer.
Jenny: Maybe we could study the book of Mark? (Dave and Barb start
forward)
Doug: I like the book of Numbers. (Dave and Barb quickly sit down again)
Jan: Doug stop that. No Book of Numbers, lets study Mark. (Dave and
Barb come forward again, this time they make it on stage.)
Dave: Numbers in Greek, (under his breath "geek")
Barb: This is a good size.
Marion: Not to big, not to small.
Andrew: I thought it was suppose to be small.
Jenny: Not to small.
Dave: With a group like this , we can develop deep carrying relationships.
Doug: Wimp.
Jan: Doug stop that. He's right.
Doug: I know, I know. I guess with this size group you can get to trust one
another to know that what you say in this room stays here.
Dave: Right
Jenny: So what's for desert?
Marion: Well I hadn't planned that yet . (everyone but Marion and Andrew
leave)
Andrew: Back to a small group.
Marion: Well lets go see what we can treat we can whip up for our next
small group meeting. (Marion and Andrew exit)
