This sketch needs to be performed by someone with some ability to juggle.
How do they do that? Mothers I mean. I know us men think we're busy, and for the most part we are, but lets look at the lives of all those mothers. It might help if we look back at a few different stages in life; there's the single life, the married with no kids, then along come the kids. I mean our life changes , but look at theirs when your first bouncing baby boy comes along. (produce first ball , and bounce it then hold it )
Something to be proud of , something cute. Something that gets hungry in the middle of the night , something that screams , and throws up , and smells. All the time growing up, making bigger messes and then goes to school and stays home sick and throws up some more. All while mom rubs the back of her loved one. Then comes little baby Susie (produce second ball , and bounce it then hold it in your other hand), and mom has to do the midnight feedings and the diapers all over again but now has to get little Timmy up and dressed for school,(start to juggle the two balls) while nursing Susie, doing the laundry and dressing her colour challenged husband for work. Then buying the groceries picking up Timmy , taking him to soccer , making the dinner, feeding the baby, trying to get in a workout to get trim again, preparing the Sunday School lesson, changing the baby. (pause the juggling) Oh and did I mention that the hockey playoffs are on. Why she seems irritated that her husband has spare time to watch the games I'll never know.

Could it be that in her spare time , she has to (start to juggle) run to the bank to deposit the cheques, to pay the bills. Lets not forget the cable , the playoffs are on. Take Timmy to the dentist, buy a Mothers day card for her Mother In law from her husband . Why doesn't she seem pleased when you surprise Timmy with a new puppy on his birthday? (begin to juggle a third ball) Take dog to vet, water the plants, send out the Christmas cards, walk the dog , buy a pooper scooper , use it. All the while the kids keep getting bigger and bigger , and getting involved in dance and hockey, soccer and baseball, needing to be driven here and there and all the while we get to go to work.( stop juggling) |
It seems like they have so many distractions in life. If they want to have a personal life, (start juggling four balls) taking time out to be more than just mom. Time to be who they were before they ever got into that first trimester, they are afraid they might drop the ball. (If I haven't dropped all four by now I will) They forget to return a call to our mother or miss paying the cable bill. With so many little distractions in their lives, its no wonder they have a hard time staying focused on the bigger picture. (Lift up a basketball with the word "GOD" on it and place it where all can see
Exit) |
