IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT
….and I feel fine


Scene opens with a man or woman(Person 1) walking in from the back of the church carrying a sign. Person 1 walks down the first aisle, then up the middle and down the third aisle. Dead pan face with out saying anything. As Person 1 starts to come down the third aisle enter another person (Person 2) from stage left carrying another placard type sign. As Person 2 walks from left to right no one can see their sign. As Person 2 reaches center they confront the first sign carrier.
The first sign which is in plain view says something like (THE WORLD WILL END DECEMBER 11^TH , THIS OF COURSE IS THE DAY BEFORE THE DRAMA) When the two confront this is the subject of much discussion.

Two: Hey what's with the sign?

One: The world will end?

Two: No doubt, but according to your sign it ended yesterday.

(One looks at his sign and removes the 11th to reveal the 12th)

One: There is that better?

Two: Well……At least I didn't miss it.

One: Have a good day, or at least what's left of it.(One starts to walk away)

Two: Just a minute. Hey where did you get the idea the world would end yesterday or
today for that matter?

One: I read about it in this paper. "The World News" (Holds up paper for all to see) If it
is in the paper it must be true!

Two: Well I think you need to be a little discerning about what you read. In fact the Bible
tells us to do that. The thing is as Christians we should be prepared for the end of
times , but we should not be out there trying to predict the exact date of Jesus return.
May I see your sign for a moment? (Two places his sign down so that the
congregation still can't see it and is handed one's sign. Two peaks under the sign
to reveal the13th , 14th, etc.) ……We have to be careful to watch for false
prophecies. The bible reveals to us Gods word telling of the signs that will proceed
the final day. And I don't think this sign is one of the signs mentioned in the bible.
Neither is this paper for that matter. Can I see your sign for a moment, I think I can
improve it for you. (Two removes part of person one's sign, to improve it. In the
end the sign reads THE WORLD WILL END ) Now that is one prophecy that you
can believe in.

One: I can't go wrong with this one. Thanks.(One and Two shake hands and the first sign
carrier starts to leave up the center aisle. No one has seen sign 2 yet. Person 2 starts to
leave up the middle aisle proudly displaying their sign CANUCKS WILL WIN
STANLEY CUP IN 2000. Person One turns walks back and tears of the words "IN
2000" The two of them exit up center aisle)
